Girl at the Rock Shows

My quest for fun music to forget the stress building up in my inbox and my head continues. Today the goal is to find fun music that makes me forget all of the work piling up while also giving me a sense of motivation and energy to start tackling some of it and that’s exactly what “To Us” from Shakira Chinchilla does.

Shakira Chinchilla is a duo from Nashville, Tennessee. Their style in “To Us” bounced between a beautiful indie-pop songstress vibe to something a bit more brash and punky. It’s the perfect blend and, in this track comes with an overly catchy chorus. There’s a little Tegan & Sara influence in the vocals styling here but I don’t think I would use that as a straight-forward comparison. There’s just so much more to Shakira Chinchilla that will keep you guessing at what’s up their sleeve for the next song, heck, even for the next beat. I love the way this song kept me on my toes as if they were daring me to guess what would come next. Would it be a lovely string of high-quality vocals or a driving and crunchy guitar part. After just a couple of seconds of “To Us”, I stopped guessing and just let Shakira Chinchilla do the driving. It’s a ride that I thoroughly enjoyed and think you will too if you just take the time to check out “To Us”.
