I know I just told you in the last post that I was on a quest for whimsical and catchy tracks. That’s not what “Vicinity” from Josh Passcde is but this song is hitting just as good right now so let’s just go ahead and dig into it.

This song is that perfect pop-punk blend of emo and rock. It’s hard to believe that this entire song is done solely by Josh because of all of the elements that come together to make “Vicinity” the jam it is. It’s also hard to believe because each part seems to come with such a sense of precision. I really adore the rises and falls throughout this song. Josh mentioned that this is a song about “wanting someone to stay for your own sanity” and I feel like you can really feel that sentiment in this track. There are moments of contentedness contrasted with moments of chaos and nearing panic. I love that and how it just adds another sense of depth to an already impactful song. This song is only three minutes long so it goes without saying that you should listen to the entire thing but, just in case you were thinking about skipping this track after just a couple of seconds, I highly urge you to hang on until the end for a truly epic (and surprising) twist move.
