Happy Sunday everyone. I’m avoiding cleaning my house because, well, I don’t want to clean my house but, at the same time, I want to be productive so let’s just spend the day checking out some new music starting with “Avolition” from Neon Funeral.
Neon Funeral is a band from New Jersey and, as soon as this track started playing, I could only dream of living in the area. This song, like the video is fun but it has an edge. The track overall is fairly dark but the fact that the video is shot in a colorful arcade contrasts that perfectly. There are clear industrial influences throughout this track but “Avolition” is so much more than just an industrial track. There are elements of metalcore and post-punk scattered into this track creating a super dynamic and intriguing sound. Although this isn’t a particularly fast or intense song, something about “Avolition” begs to be seen live. I’m not sure if Neon Funeral has any touring plans but all of my fingers and toes are crossed that they somehow make their way up here to the Twin Cities after hearing this track.
