I’ve always thought that Japanese is a beautiful language when written. I mean, it’s beautiful in general but I find something to soothing and gorgeous about the characters used to write the language. That was the first thing that drew me to “Graue Komödie” from In My Vanitasss. The background on this track was written in Japanese which means I have little background here but the beautiful of that language was mirrored in the beauty of this track and video.

Okay, we all know that “beauty” is in the eye of the beholder and I’ll be honest that this track isn’t beautiful in the standard sense of the world but, if you’re like me, you’ll find the beauty here. There’s a delicacy behind the keys that reign loud and clear throughout this track but there’s also a sense of angsty emotion that comes through just as loud and clear. That contrast makes this an ear catching song that I found absolutely irresistible. Add the emotion that you get from watching the video for this song and you are left with a staggering work of art. Within just the first minute of this track, you hear the immense vocal power of this band but also get a taste of the sheer intensity that comes from the instrumentation behind those stunning vocals. Elements of punk, emo, metalcore, and even classical stylings weave in and out throughout this song making it one of those tracks that you never quite figure out but also making this a track that you won’t soon forget.
