My day is trucking along in all of the right ways. I’m getting things done, feeling accomplished, and still feeling motivated. Long story short, it has been a good day thus far and I am optimistic about the rest of it. One of the reasons I am feeling so rip-roaring ready to go is all of the amazing new music I’ve been checking out today like “Decades and Lightyears” from Settle for Sleep.

I really love the energy that comes through during “Decades and Lightyears” but, beyond that, I adore the depth of this track. As the band put it, “A sophisticated meditation on aging, regret, and self loathing, ‘Decades’ explores the silent conversations that take place in our minds as we stare in the mirror, wondering what happened.” I know that seems super complicated and deep but as you move through this four minute forty-five second track with intensity that grows and hides throughout the song, you understand it. Knowing the background of this song adds a sense of tenderness and beauty that I feel like you know is there regardless but it just get amplified a little bit as you stare into that mirror and wonder what happened. Another thing I love about this song is the fact that, although deep, it has a powerfully uplifting vibe to it. As if giving you a chance to both stare into that mirror and wonder what happened while also staring into the mirror and being thankful for all that has happened.
