Again, I must ask, where in the heck is time going and how is it already lunchtime? Although I really shouldn’t take a break right now due to all of the things I still have to do and the fact that I seem to be on a roll today, I feel like we should celebrate making it to lunch time with a little jam like “Big Red” from Massie.
Massie is a trio based out of Washington D.C. but their sound is so much more than that of a standard trio. “Big Red” is a track off of the group’s debut EP ‘Grady Says Serotonin’ and I already just want to spend the rest of my day with this song, that EP, and anything else Massie has out there on repeat. There’s so much life and energy here that it’s insane. I love how you get a slight sense of attitude from the vocals in this song but it never leans too far into bratty or Riot Grrrl styled. It’s a cool balance and one that I think only Massie could pull off so perfectly. With elements of 90’s grunge intertwined perfectly with a more 00’s alt rock and a classic punk vibe, “Big Red” is a song that is worth your attention and Massie is a band that deserves all of your love.
