Five concerts, one radio show, two kids in the house, one kid’s birthday– it’s been a weekend. I’m low key relieved to be at work but, at the same time, would much rather be at home and in bed catching up on all of the sleep I didn’t get this weekend. I know it’s early but I already need a pick-me-up and “The Montreal Screwjob” from Talk Heavy is doing just the trick.

This song is ridiculously fun but it comes with a sense of depth behind it. The depth is all in the lyrics and the way they are presented but, even with that emotional charge, this song comes off as nothing short of a pop-punk-perfect bop. The vocal style reminds me a bit of MxPx but the instrumentation is just ever so slightly heavier than that. There’s an undeniably infectious energy here and a chorus that will get stuck in your head instantly so I apologize now that Talk Heavy will become a new obsession after hearing this track. “The Montreal Screwjob” showcases dazzling guitars and those deep vocals which are definitely a signature of Talk Heavy. I’ll be honest, I listened to this track a couple of times before sharing and have already gone down the Talk Heavy rabbithole. Believe me when I say this is a hole to go down and one that is perfect for a sleepy Monday when you need that extra boost of energy and a sense of fun.
