Happy Tuesday, everyone. I hope you week has started off on the right foot but, if not, I am here to share some amazing song that will surely turn it around like “The Second Coming” from Midland Empire.
“The Second Coming” has such a cool blend of pop-punk and alt-rock. The vocals definitely lean more into the alt-rock vein of things while the instrumentation stays more power-pop-punk. These two styles blend to create a truly unique sound. Add the infectious energy behind this track and you are left with a song that stands out in an otherwise oversaturated scene of music. In true pop-punk fashion, this song tells the tale of a breakup of a codependent couple but it ends in a triumphant energy when the singer rediscovers themselves in the aftermath of it all. It’s a tale as old as time but is laid out so well in this track. I’ll be honest, some of this song is a bit rough as far as the recording quality goes but it just adds to the charm that is Midland Empire.
