Okay, I’m back on track after a morning with my head in the clouds from the show last night and the slight panic that the Meta outage created. I’m back to getting things accomplished and feeling good which means it’s time to celebrate with another new song. This one is “Sucker Punch” from Higher Education.
I honestly thought I was in the mood for something insane and intense but, as soon as I hit play on “Sucker Punch”, I knew this was exactly what I needed right now. This folksy-punk track is full of a smoothness and a sense of comfort but also comes with energy and passion. I may call this a folk-punk track but, as I listened to this song for the fourth time in a row (I truly can not get enough of it), I started to pick up on a more 90s alt-rock vibe and even some reggae undertones. That’s the magic of this song and Higher Education in general. Although their songs may feel one way the first time you hear it, as you listen to it over and over again, you realize just how much creativity and magic is in the overall style and delivery of their songs.
