It’s been a hot minute since I’ve mentioned Longfriend Timefriend on this blog. Okay, longer than a hot minute. I last reviewed this band back in March of 2021 when I shared their album ‘If Me Dies, Me Dies‘ but they are still a constant in the daily playlist of my life so I am stoked to introduce you to their new single, “Denver”.
“Denver” is a classic Longfriend Timefriend song. It’s fast-paced and full of energy but also full of heart and that’s what has always caught me about this band. Although the track comes off as angsty with a punk edge, there’s something tender about some of the words and instrumentation. “Denver” has a frenzy of emotions behind it. I love how the panic and that aforementioned frenzy spoke to my own frenzied soul while also giving me an odd sense of calm at the same time. This track is about a sibling moving away and all of the regret that may come with that but, really, this song could be able so many other instances than just that. This Philadelphia-based band has a sound that is perfectly nostalgic while also being fresh and crisp. Whether you want to get lost in your feelings to the emotion in this track or just get a bump of energy from the controlled chaos here, “Denver” from Longfriend Timefriend is a perfect listen.
