Sometimes it’s easier to just not put up a fight and be painted as the bad human, or villain, in a situation. Honestly, sometimes it’s fun to be the villain and a bit freeing. This song is about that feeling of being called the villain even though you’re really not and I feel like I really got hooked by the fun energy in this song because of my thinking that sometimes it is fun to be the villain.

When The Sun Sets has a classsic pop-punk sound. There’s no other way to put it. It feels very much like Four Year Strong meets Real Friends with a slight Midwest emo dazzle thrown in there. This Midwest dazzle makes sense as this band is from Chicago. I’m in the middle of planning a last minute trip to Chicago for next week and I definitely wish that this band had a show I could catch. Although they don’t, the energy of this song in particular, begs to be seen live. This upcoming trip may not be the one where I catch When The Sun Sets live but it’s just a matter of time before it happens. This song and this band in general is pop-punk perfect to a T so what are you waiting for? Lace up those Chuck’s, pull out those skinny jeans, and throw it back with “Villain (You Can Hate Me)” from When The Sun Sets.
