Girl at the Rock Shows

I am entering this new year with a “take no shit” kind of mentality. In the past, I’ve let people walk all over me and have made it a habit to bite my tongue. Not anymore. 2025 is the year I take it all back, I stand my ground, and I stay true to me through and through. “Put Up A Fight” from NLM is matching this energy making it a perfect song to check out at the beginning of this year.

As NLM puts it, “”Put Up A Fight” is a high-energy, destroy-your-cubicle, leave normal-behind anthem we desperately need,” and, honestly, that’s the perfect way to describe this song. Although I’m in a good mood today and not in the mood to destroy my office at work, I love the energy and slight sense of rage that this song gave me. There’s passion, there’s fire, there’s angst, and there’s a super ear-wormy chorus to cap it all off. I’ve written about this band a couple of times before and, every time I do, I bring up the fact that I am shocked that this band is based right here in Minneapolis, Minnesota yet I have never caught them live. 2025 is going to be the year I change that if only to hear this song live because it’s the kind of track that just begs to be seen with a sloshed beer in hand and a cheesy grin on your face while being shoved around a basement-styled venue.
