There was a sense of warm coziness that took over me when I saw the song title on this new track from Slowly Slowly. I thought of everything and everyone from my cats to my job to my friends to my boyfriend to my house– everything — and it just filled me with a sense of warmth that was only emphasized by the song itself.
“How Are You Mine?” is an absolutely infectious indie pop jam. It has elements of pop punk and a more standard pop rock influence here and there but, overall, I think it’s more than fair to call this an indie pop jam. I know I’m usually a sucker for sad lyrics matched with boppy instrumentation but this song is an example of a purely positive track. From the metaphors to the silky smooth vocals, “How Are You Mine?” is the kind of track that will make you want to hug your loved ones (four-legged or otherwise), shake your hips, and smile from ear to ear. I feel like, with how cold it is here this morning, getting out of bed was a bit rough but listening to this banger from Slowly Slowly on repeat is definitely warming me up an getting me ready to take on what will surely be an insane Friday.
