I haven’t had a show in a couple of days. Honestly, it kind of feels good to take a break. I feel a bit more rested than usual and I feel like I’m kind of getting a handle on the stack of work I have to do. Although I’m still far from caught up, it’s a good feeling. This has nothing to do with “Fireflies” from Another Face in the Crowd other than the fact that this song is breathing life into me and setting me up for success when it comes to what will surely be an insanely busy Wednesday.
“Fireflies” is a perfectly moody pop-punk anthem. It’s not moody in the standard sense where it comes drenched with somber emotion juxtaposed by riot-esque angst, but more that the song just evokes a sense of moodines that is perfect for anyone who, like me, never really gave up the days of the early 2000s pop punk and emo scene. “Another Face in the Crowd” specifically reminded me a bit of old school Brand New (before they got weird, artsy, and before the whole Jesse Lacey controversy) with a slightly more alt-rock leaning tone. Overall, it’s a catchy song but also one that will bring you a sense of cozy comfort making it a perfect fit for your Wednesday morning listening pleasure.
