How about a little history lesson to start your week? Frances Perkins was an American workers- rights advocate and the fourth United States Secretary of Labor from 1933 to 1945. She was the driving force behind the New Deal and helped create the modern middle class. Long story short, she was a badass and fought for many of the things we all have today. I absolutely love how KC Blackwater pays tribute to such an amazing woman in their new song “Every Time I Clock In, Frances Perkins Rolls In Her Grave.”

This song has an incredible amount of energy behind it. Within the first second, KC Blackwater hits you with an undeniable sense of uncontrollable angst and political vibes. This fast-paced single seems to display the frustrations of the neverending daily grind and that’s something I think we can all relate to– especially on a sleepy Monday morning. There’s frustration and angst with every beat of this song and a sense of strength that just drives it all right into your heart. This is the first song I’ve ever heard from this 5-pieces band led by Cam Owden but it definitely won’t be the last. The amount of power that comes with this track in particular will stay with you and surely leave you wanting so much more from KC Blackwater.
