Girl at the Rock Shows

It’s Monday and it definitely feels like it. The fresh coat of snow has me wanting to be anywhere but at work and the constantly growing pile of work has me dreading the rest of the day but, like every other day, I’m going to try and not let it get the best of me and, instead, take a breather before digging in. Some people may take a breather in silence but, for me, the only way I like to take breathers is by checking out a new song so let’s get this week started off right with “Everywhere We Go” from Jesus Sky Drive.

This emo-drenched anthem came with zero information about the band or the background of the song but the emotion that comes through in every beat does all of the explaining I need. There’s a perfect note of nostalgia that reigns supreme throughout this song but also something fresh and new that helps make it stand out. Although the recording quality feels oddly quiet, this is a song that is worth turning your volume up for so you can let every poignant beat and word fully sink in. The ebb and flow of this song, although predictable, is epic and adds a dynamic feeling to an already staggering track. Whether you’re like me and constantly find yourself reliving the heyday of the early 2000s emo and pop punk scene or are just a dabbler in the sound, “Everywhere we Go” from Jesus Sky Drive will surely make you fall in love one note at a time.
