Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m running behind this morning. There was a pop-up meeting at work about abrasives. Yes, it was as thrilling as you may think, and I now feel like I know far too much about flap discs, cutting wheels, grinding wheels.. Okay, that’s a lie, I still know very little about any of them but all I could think about during this little meeting was how this time would be better spent checking out some new music so it’s time to play catch up.

Let’s get the started off right with “Trainer Red vs. Trainer Blue” from Saving Cortana. This song has the perfect kind of angsty energy that you need on a Tuesday morning. It’s heavy and slightly in-your-face but it has a bounciness to it that reminds me slightly of bands like Four Year Strong and Belmont. There’s also a subtle metalcore influence throughout the instrumentation of this track that just adds to the stunning power contained within the three minutes that this song lasts. “Trainer Red vs. Trainer Blue” is the debut release from this New Jersey-based pop-punk/ post-hardcore band but it surely won’t be the last.
