I am always looking for the weird and eclectic. You know, music that, on paper, doesn’t make sense but, when you hear it, you wonder why it hasn’t happened before. That’s how I got hooked on Jacob Panic. His “banjo death metal” is one of those things that, I’ll admit, sounds a bit weird and like it shouldn’t exist but, when I heard “Crusher, ” I fell head over heels in loveso I was stoked to see he sent another single my way.

“Blood Pressure” is just as quirky as “Crusher,” but with a genre that can only be called “extreme banjo death metal,” I suppose that’s kind of a given. The vocals throughout this song are dark and, at times, feel a bit too dark and fall into everything else happening on this song, but it wasn’t the vocals that caught me. It was the stellar banjo playing and the way that itremains in the forefront of this track while there are so many other extremes surrounding it. There’s this one part in particular around the 1:20 mark where it’s hard to believe that this is coming from a banjo but, believe it. Jacob Panic may not be for everyone but there’s no one on the planet that can deny that this musician is bringina sense of originality and creativy to the table that just can not be ignored.
