Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Tuesday, everyone! This week is already flying by which has me slightly stressed but also optimistic that I may be able to get through it without a complete meltdown. With a strong docket of amazing shows and a work pile that, although never ends, feels oddly manageable, I’m feeling good and ready to find some new music to match this energy.

“Your Famous Smile” is one of those songs that just makes you feel good. It’s infectious and boppy but it has a sense of depth behind it that makes you stop what you’re doing and listen. The vocals are strong which, as you may have caught onto at this point, is something that I look for. Not only is the tone of them perfect, the story that they tell is relatable and honest. There’s a tenderness in this song, but also a classic and primal rock n’ roll feel that comes through here and there, which highlights the more straight-up leaning alt-rock vibe of this track. There are no heavy breakdowns to speak of. No giant ebbs and flows and talk about yet this song feels completely dynamic and perfect. Honestly, “Your Famous Smile” from Spirals is just one of those songs that is perfect from start to finish. It grabs your attention without being in your face and that makes it a perfect way to kick off your Tuesday.
