I like to think that I’m the “Queen of the Planet.” I know that it’s not entirely true but, sometimes, it’s nice to pretend. Although this song is not about me (it’s actually about Lois Lane of DC comics fame), it was fun to imagine that Chris Roach and his amazing band had me in mind when creating this song.
“Queen of the Planet” is full of a nostalgic sound. It doesn’t take long for Chris and his band to hit you with the chorus of this track and really pull you into their world that seems to revolve around a perfectly curated pop-punk sound that dabbles between something a bit more surf-punk inspired and, at times, something that leans a bit more alt-rock. The grungy effect on the vocals adds a layer of grit to this song that gives it that polished but not too shiny kind of sound. English-born, Nashville-based Chris Roach clearly has a talent, and although I’m not a comic book nerd, so I can’t relate to his mission of writing and recording a few tunes inspired by comic book characters, there’s no denying that I’m in love with his overall sound and vibe.
