“T.K.Y.I.T.H.Y.” could stand for a million things. Words, thoughts, and phrases were swirling around my head as I read the initials over and over again. What does it stand for? Honestly, it doesn’t matter. All you need to know is that this song from Canadian punk rockers Blue Youth is more than worthy of your attention today (and all days for that matter).

The first single from Blue Youth’s ‘Defeatist’ LP (via Zegema Beach Records and The Ghost is Clear Records), “T.K.Y.I.T.H.Y.” has a very frantic yet organized energy to it. It’s an intense track made even more intense by the shouted vocal style that will wake up even the sleepiest of souls. Although I was picking up on a frantic energy throughout this quick, two-and-a-half-minute-long song, I get how, on a day where maybe I wasn’t so stressed, I would take this song in differently. That being said, I loved how this track gave me some time to breathe, and although it seemed to embrace my manic-ness that I am dealing with right now, it also somehow calmed me down as if giving me an outlet for this energy. Blue Youth has put so much into this song from a slight surf rock vibe to an ultimate fuzz that casts a shadow over this entire song. “”T.K.Y.I.T.H.Y.” is the kind of song that will kick you in the butt in all the right ways.
