Today was rough. It was one of those days when I almost walked out of my day job and didn’t turn back. I couldn’t get caught up, and I felt that some things that the company did to roll out a new name were a little less than smooth, creating a huge headache for some of us. I consistently felt like I was on the “Edge of Failure.” I didn’t have any time to work on other things so now, instead of heading out to a show, I’ve chained myself to my desk to try and get caught up and one of the many things I need to get caught up on is sharing singles with you so I feel like it’s only fitting to check out “Edge of Failure” from the scattering to kick tonight off.
“Edge of Failure” is the first track off of the scattering’s EP, ‘Now We All Burn,’ which came out in January of this year. This song hits hard. It’s the perfect blend of hardcore punk with a little bit of thrash metal influence and a whole lot of death metal-style blast beats. It’s the perfect track for you when you need to blow off steam. The beginning of the track is super fast and heavy and then, about a minute in, the band gives you a short break as if acknowledging that they just obliterated your eardrums (in the best way possible) and giving you a chance to re-set before plunging you back into their world of sheer and perfectly curated chaos. “Edge of Failure” was everything I needed to blow the stress of my day out of my head and give me the power and motivation to work through the night.
