I am absolutely part of the “Tony Hawk Generation.” I distinctly remember playing the crap out of Tony Hawk on my Gameboy Color (yes, I understand that dates me) and remember how thrilled I was when my brother and I got it Tony Hawk for the Playstation 2 (which I still have but have neglected over the years). You may not understand the importance of the Tony Hawk games to some people but, just to lay it all out there, I truly think that the music behind these games sent me on the path that I still travel today. I discovered some amazing bands from that game and am so stoked that there is a whole movement of people and bangs that are acknowledging that like Paths 2 Glory.
“Tony Hawk Generation” from Paths 2 Glory is heavily influenced by the music behind the Tony Hawk Pro Skater game soundtracks and it’s perfect. I love that this song dips into the nostalgia that surrounds the music from those monumental games while bringing a fresh angsty edge to the table. This song is fast and furious but has an almost calming energy to it. Maybe that’s because of the nostalgia and how it reminds me of the days when my only stress was trying to get “SKATE” throughout the maps on the game, or maybe that’s because this is just such a well-done song. Either way, “Tony Hawk Generation” from Paths 2 Glory is the kind of song that will get your blood pumping, remind you of the good ol’ days, and give you a breath of fresh air all within just under three and a half minutes.
