Well, everyone, we’ve made it to Friday! There were times this week when it didn’t feel like I’d make it to the end, but here we are, and that calls for a celebration. Let’s start the celebration off early by checking out “Mighty Oak Tree”– the new single from Abbie Thomas. Does that name sound familiar? It should! I had the honor of interviewing Abbie last year (you can check it out HERE!) and I was so stoked to see her name come across my email again because I knew I was about to be treated to something immensely beautiful, heartfelt, and soulful.

The story behind this song is heartbreaking. I won’t get super into it, but it’s a touching song that is rooted in a moment that Abbie was trying to comfort her mom through music. You can feel that tenderness in this song so easily, and you can see the heart that Abbie not only put into every word, but every note. There is nothing rushed about this song. Abbie takes time to associate a feeling to every passing beat in such a way that it creates an overwhelming sense of depth. I have some insider information here that Abbie spent a lot of time perfecting this song, but, truthfully, this feels just so perfectly organic and as if it was written in haste and just truly from the soul, with how much Abbie’s talent lies raw in the spotlight here. I’ll be honest, “Mighty Oak Tree” is an upbeat jam. It may not be the perfect way to kick off a celebratory Friday, but it is a stunning song that will help you get your day started off with a sense of warmth and comfort that can only come from someone as talented as Abbie Thomas.
