Do you talk to animals? I surely do. I don’t care who knows it or who hears, either. I will have a full on conversation with my cats and, yes, I’m pretty sure they talk back to me. Honestly, it makes you feel a little bit less lonely on this planet and, whereas humans can be so complicated, animals seem to be a bit easier to deal with so, at the end of the day, what’s so wrong with talking to animals? This has nothing to do with “Somewhere (not here)” from Mum and Dad Talk To Animals other than the name of the band but what a great lead-in to this amazing song.

Mum and Dad Talk To Animals mentioned the diverse backgrounds of each of the band members when introducing this song to me, but honestly, they didn’t have to tell me that- I could feel and hear it. “Somewhere (not here)” is powerful. It bridges so many gaps between genres, including between emo, post-punk, pop-punk, and even a more classic hardcore vibe. Regardless of what particular style is shining through at any given point during this quick three-minute track, you are getting hit repeatedly by a stunning amount of emotion that, at times, almost feels unbearable. “Somewhere (not here)” is as cathartic as it is amazing so, what are you waiting for? Blow off a little steam, check this track out, and then make sure to throw Mum and Dad Talk To Animals some love.
