Clearly, I am struggling to focus on work today. Maybe it’s the brain fog that I mentioned in my last post or maybe it’s the sunny sky. Maybe it’s exhaustion or maybe it’s the fact that I’m starting to question all of my other jobs and thinking about just putting all of my efforts into this blog. Whatever it is, I’m all over the place and I am using checking out new music as a way to soothe my soul so let’s just keep checking out some amazing new songs like “Alright OK” from Soraia.
Although the beginning of this song isn’t quite the “wall of sound” that the band mentioned when pitching this song to me (that wall of sound comes later), Soraia instantly had me hooked with the grit and spit that comes with the first line of “Alright OK.” It reminds me a lot of bands like The Distillers and Lambrini Girls with the attitude that comes through loud and clear throughout this four-minute and nineteen-second anthem, but there’s also a more classic tone that reminds me a bit of bands like Social Distortion. Honestly, listening to “Alright OK” transported me back to a couple of weeks ago when I was at Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas. Something about this song just fits into that festival so well and it’s not just the tone. It’s the attitude, it’s the energy, it’s everything about Soraia that makes them a band to keep your eyes on.
