I don’t know what a “Boot Fair” is, but I know, after hearing this song from The Melbies, I want to go to one. From all I can tell, a “Boot Fait” is a bit like a garage sale but this song makes it feel like so much more.
The Melbies are a trio from Dover in the UK. Their sound is a perfect blend of classic punk with a modern twist, all brought together by a punchy and infectious beat. “Boot Fair” moves fast, and even though it’s right around three and a half minutes long, it flies by, so don’t blink because you might miss it. “Boot Fair” is a perfectly polished song, yet there’s something about the grit in the vocals that brings a DIY spirit to the forefront, adding to the catchiness of the track. I love that you can feel a sense of sunshine and summer fun in this song. Maybe I’m only feeling that because of the subject matter of this song, but, regardless, it’s a bright and sunny vibe and, for the dark times we seem to be living in, is a nice reprieve. From the energy to that aforementioned grit, “Boot Fair” from The Melbies is the perfect song to get you moving this Monday morning.
