Coworkers can suck. I’m feeling that today, and it has my bright and sunny day turning dark and twisty very quickly. Although my coworkers at this day job may suck, the band called Coworkers is the only thing keeping me going right now with the help of their song “Ace of Swords.”
“Ace of Swords” kicks off with a super ear-wormy lick before the sound of Coworkers comes in and takes over your ears and heart in one fell swoop. There’s a sense of mathematics when it comes to the syncopation and rhythms in this song that give the track a super unique beat. Add the post-punk styled vocals and you are left with a sound that is as mesmerizing as it is unique. There were moments throughout this song where “Ace of Swords” had some nods to familiar bands and songs but, every time I tried to think of what those songs and bands were, the thought would be gone because Coworkers had already changed everything around again. I seriously can not understand how trippy and cool this track is.
