I’m having trouble deciding what kind of music mood I’m in right now. I’ve already dabbled in jazzy hip-hop, nostalgic pop-punk, and now seem to be going down some nu-metal kind of rabbit hole but nothing is really grabbing me. Maybe checking out some new music will spark something in my soul and stop this restless feeling.

“Way Back To Myself” from Inside Voices has a groove, and it’s the kind of groove that not only gets stuck in your head but also leaves you wanting so much more. The vocals mixed with the intricate guitars make this song sound like glitter. Certain beats, words, and notes seemed to be emphasized ever so slightly more than others, giving this song a cool syncopation that is as unique as it is perfect. I read this song to be a super energizing bop, but there’s a depth to it that I could see people easily diving into the more heartbreaking side of this song. It’s a song about stepping away from toxic situations and how, although it’s easy to think that things will get better, it’s hard to get used to a new normal away from said toxic situation. I don’t have that in my life right now. honestly, things are pretty dang good so my biggest takeaway from “Way Back To Myself” from Inside Voices is just the intricate perfection throughout the song but, again, there’s so much more to this track than just that so let it speak to you how it may and inevitably fall in love with Inside Voices.
