Girl at the Rock Shows

I don’t have anything profound to share at the moment. It’s just another day of the grind, where I’m trying to keep my head above water when it comes to work and keep my eyes open despite my normal level of exhaustion. I’m looking for a pick-me-up, and I feel like checking new music out always helps with that, so let’s take a quick breather and check out “Heights” from Pretty Sure.

Although Pretty Sure is, first and foremost, an indie pop band with lush, dreamy soundscapes and deep layers, “Heights” filled me with a beautiful sense of energy. It’s not the same kind of energy as you might get from a hardcore or metal song, but it’s energetic nonetheless, with a Midwest emo vibe that catches your ears and heart simultaneously. The lyrics of “Heights” seem to focus on the differences between growing up and growing old. Although I refuse to do either of those things, I found the words throughout this song to resonate so perfectly with my soul. There’s the perfect amount of nostalgia in this song, but it also comes off as fresh. Long story short, I’m Pretty Sure that you will love everything about “Heights” if you just give it a chance.
