Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m starting to feel a bit manic, but that was to be expected with it being a Monday of a short week. I called it the second I woke up– this was going to be a short but trying week, and it’s definitely already trying me. That being said, I won’t give in easily this week, especially not with a small vacation acting as my light at the end of the tunnel, so, instead of giving in and giving up, I’m going to take a breather and share another newish song with you!

“Is Anyone Okay” isn’t quite a pop-punk perfect song, and it’s not quite an indie-rock anthem, but it lies somewhere in the in-between, making it as catchy as it is touching. This song definitely has a commercial quality to it, but there’s something about the power behind “Is Anyone Okay” that gives this track a bit of an edge and spark that both caught me off guard and gave me a thrill. As if the overall style and vibe of this song weren’t enough, you have the lyrics. I mean, the title says it all. “Is Anyone Okay”– although there is no question mark at the end of that, I’m going to ask you, “Is Anyone Okay?” Just think about the power and the weight of that question for a bit. It can take you down a rabbithole and a dark one at that, but MMRY poses this super important and deep question with bright lights of slight positivity swirling around it, and I think that shines such a beautiful tone on such a heavy question that, these days, has a clear answer and that answer is no, nobody is okay but we are all hanging in there.
