Girl at the Rock Shows

I’ve been in love with Oister Boy since the first time I saw them in July of 2023. I’ve seen these local rockers a few times since then, including just a couple of weeks ago. They always leave me impressed and in love, but for some reason, they aren’t a band that I turn to when working or going about my daily life. That changes now because I just listened to their single, “Slip and Slide,” and, even though it’s a recording, hearing their sound truly brightened up my day instantly.

“Slip and Slide” is one of those songs that is just so full of life, energy, and fire, it’s impossible to listen to this song without being taken back to one of the many times I’ve seen this band live. That being said, if you’ve never seen Oister Boy live (which is a shame), I love how this song lays out what it is like so perfectly. Although this recording is perfectly polished and definitely “record label ready,” there’s a DIY grit that radiates throughout this four-minute, thirteen-second song, giving it that perfect little edge. The power and sound that comes with this song, in particular, is as beautiful as it is powerful. You can get lost in the shoegaze element that drifts throughout this track, or you can hold on to the fiery passion that comes through with some of the melodies and stunning vocals. Either way, there’s something for everyone to fall in love with when it comes to this song and Oister Boy in general, so go ahead– take a break from this manic Monday and enjoy the magic that is “Slip and Slide” from Oister Boy.
