I’ve already been to more shows this year than some will go to in their lifetime. It’s a lot to remember, a lot to keep track of, but every once in a while, a show hits you and you don’t forget it–ever. That’s what happened when I finally crossed Missouri Executive Order 44 off my list when I saw them at the PILLLAR Forum just a couple of months ago. The show had shock and aw,e but, more importantly, it hit me, it hit me harder than the hits my body took from the insane mess of flying limbs that was the audience. I was in love, so I was stoked when their music came across my desk as something to share out with all of you, because this band not only deserves your attention, they deserve your love.
Somehow, Missouri Executive Order 44 has perfectly captured the insanity and chaos of their live performance in this recording of “Twister of ’79.” It’s gritty and a bit rough around the edges but I think that more speaks to the overall chaotic style that this band does so well. It’s grindcore, it’s metalcore, it’s screamo, and it’s experimental. It’s the kind of music that parents hate, the kind of music that makes friends’ ears bleed. Long story short, it’s perfect for when you’re feeling snappy or angry. It gives you an outlet and I loved how, although I’m stuck behind my desk right now, listening to this quick song on repeat took me back to being in my happy place– that sweaty mess of flying limbs that comes with a live performance from this explosive and flawless band.
