Girl at the Rock Shows

Like you (hopefully), I have discovered so many amazing bands through doing this blog. Some of them are bands that I hear a song that I really like, which leads me down a rabbit hole into that band’s discography, and then, inevitably, I move on. It’s nothing that the band did wrong, more that there is just so much amazing music out there that I find it hard to stay on one band for too long. Then there are bands that have a bit more lasting power. I can’t tell you why some last longer than others, but I can tell you that Jersey Calling is one of those bands. So, when I saw that they had a new song out, I was stoked because this is one band that I just can’t seem to get enough of.

“X Americana,” the new song from Jersey Calling, is an anti-billionaire theme. It has the same grit and passion that all of the previous songs from this band that I’ve shared with you have had, but this one has an edge. There’s an angst behind this song (that comes complete with a rant around the 2:30 mark) that I found perfectly relatable and energizing. Although Jersey Calling is, at their core, a New Jersey-based pop-punk band, I feel like this track shows a new side of them that leans more into the punk side of things. The back and forth on the vocals mixed with the catchy riffs, driving bass, and slamming drums make this one of those songs that will just catch you and have you looking up the next time when the next local rally is against the messed up insanity that is happening around this country. Jersey Calling reminds that now is not a time to stay quiet, now is a time to stand up and fight back.
