I fell in love when I caught Kerosene Heights at The Underground Music Cafe a couple of months ago. Although their energy thrilled me, it was their overall sound that really spoke to my soul, so I was beyond excited when the band sent over their single “Waste My Time” for me to check out.
“Waste My Time” is the new record from Kerosene Heights’ upcoming album, which is out on August 15th. It not only has me wishing I had another chance to see this band kill it on a stage again soon, butit has me counting down the days until August 15th. Although I feel like some of the raw energy that I got from their performance is a bit lost in this dazzling and glittery recording, there’s no denying the passion that comes through with every passing word. Stylistically, this song is perfectly situated among the names of greats like Joyce Manor and Prince Daddy & The Hyena. It definitely has that Midwest emo quality to it, but has this extra little spice thrown in there, which adds a little angst to the overall chill and so perfect tone. Add in the band’s almost math-inspired guitar work, and you are left with “Waste My Time,” which, if you ask me, is far from a waste of anyone’s time.
