Like I’ve said before, I know that The Dirty Nil doesn’t need my press. This band is a thing and quickly becoming a household name, so, like I said, they don’t need me, but sometimes a song comes along that is just too good not to share, and that’s the case when it comes to “Rock N’ Roll Band” from The Dirty Nil.
In true The Dirty Nil fashion, “Rock N’ Roll Band” is an explosive track that starts off fairly chill before becoming an anthemic powerhouse of a song. There’s something fast and furious about this song, but also something so perfectly constrained and under control. Although I came for the energy, I stayed for the message behind the song. The lyrics of this track take an honest look at the music industry and essentially calls it out for all of the bullshit that comes with this industry. It’s sarcastic and fun, but at the same time, I love that you can feel a sense of frustration throughout this song that is meant to pay homage to all of the bands out there that are grinding away just hoping to make their passion into something more. Like frontman Luke Bentham said, “This one is for all the road dogs – we salute you.”
