Happy Monday, everyone. Although I’m still not feeling 100% after being sick all of last week, I’m feeling like a solid 72% and, honestly, I’ll take it. I know it sounds cliche, but I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired, so I’m pushing through today, and I’m going to do it with a freaking smile on my face. Can you tell that I’m just trying to give myself a little pep talk right now? It’s not working, but listening to “Down Beneath The Emptiness” from HATHORS is definitely getting my day started off right.
“Down Beneath The Emptiness” travels between so many moods and phrases in such a seamless way. The beginning of this track starts off as just your standard mid-tempo alt-rock kind of song, but as the nearly four-minute track moves along, it takes you toe-dipping into many different worlds, from punk to an explosive and almost Alice in Chains kind of grunge world. As if the journey the instrumentation takes you on isn’t enough, HATHORS packs this song full of emotion and relatable lyrics about taking a path that may lead nowhere or into pain and despair. Sounds a little daunting. “Down Beneath The Emptiness” is far from a daunting track. It’s a solid song that will get stuck in your head as much as it hooks you.
