My super smooth morning just hit a road bump. It’s not a huge hill or anything like that, literally just a little bump but it will take some fanagling and some more “Coffee” to help me get through it so why not take a quick breather before plunging into this mess with a new song aptly named “Coffee.”
This track is the third single from Brightr’s sophomore album and it feels fresh and nostalgic all at the same time. It’s pop-punk perfect with a lean into the more tender side of the emo scene of years gone by but there’s an energy around this nearly three-minute song that will have you hooked. Overall, this song feels light and even a little hollow when it comes to the acoustic instrumentation but there’s a ferocious power and sense of emotion that comes through with every passing word. Sure, I would love to hear this song with a fully amped band but there’s something so perfectly raw and intimate about the way this song is done that I also think it’s perfect just the way it is. Think “Coffee Shop Soundtrack” from All Time Low but with a bit more heart, “Coffee” from Brightr is a stunner of a track.
