Ready or not, it’s Thursday. Some people may be super excited about that because it means we are that much closer to the weekend, but for me, it’s anxiety-inducing. I’ve had a super productive week, but there’s just never enough time, and now we are down to the wire in terms of completing tasks this week. I am determined not to get lost in the mania, so I wanted to start today off right by checking out some new music, starting with “Cerebellum” from You Filthy Dog.
The first thing that struck me about this song is how bright it is but also how much depth there is throughout the track. At face value, this is a super quirky and ear-catching kind of song that seems to throw everything you know about music out the window. From interesting patterns to creative tones, I loved the creativity and how free-flowing this song sounds but, on my third listen to this track, I started to pick up on this slightly dark undertone to the track that adds the sense of depth that makes this one of those tracks that you have to listen to over and over again to really figure out. Even though I’ve now listened to “Cerebellum” multiple times (more than I’d actually like to admit), I’ve realized that I still don’t understand this song but also am not ready to move on from it. This is the magic of You Filthy Dog and one of the many reasons why this song is the perfect way to kick off your Thursday.
