Happy Friday, everyone! It has been a whirlwind of a week for me. It was a short one with being in Des Moines over the weekend, and, because of that, I feel like I was constantly being held underwater all week. At this point, I’m done being stressed about the week. I did all that I could with the time that I had and I have to be okay with that. It’s a hard thing for me to do, being okay with not getting everything done, but what else can I do? Instead of rushing to get even more done, I’ve decided I’m going to take my time today, keep calm, and spend lots of time checking out new music, starting with “Quiet Quit” from Dyne Side.

The fact that “Quiet Quit” is an “anti-grind anthem” seems just so perfectly fitting. This infectious little bop not only had a message that spoke to my soul, but it also had a vibe that cleared my mind. Stylistically, this song is a little bit of indie pop with a slight edge that leans into something more alt-rock. The way the band switches between these two worlds of light and dark so seamlessly is genius. I feel like this pattern matches how it feels like to be living on a grind. You have moments where everything is going great, and you feel like you got this, but quickly, those moments can turn into dark thoughts of existential dread. Maybe that’s me reading a bit too far into this song, given my current mental state and how this week has been going, but either way, I found a sense of solace and energy within “Quiet Quit” from Dyne Side.
