Girl at the Rock Shows

The day is trucking along and, honestly, I’m okay with it. I’m getting stuff done, but also not getting stressed over the fact that, no matter how much I work today, it’s just one of those days where I will never be able to keep up. It’s kind of refreshing to just go at my pace and steadily get things done because, typically, I get lost in the stress and turn manic. I feel like I deserve a little treat for not getting in my head about my current workload, so let’s celebrate by checking out “Alex, I Told You So” from Madame Whiskey and Sley Martinez.

This song has such a catchy chorus. That’s the first thing that struck me about this single but, as I listened to the song more and more, I realized that there is so much more to “Alex, I Told You So” than just a catchy chorus. This song is a good ol’ fashioned rock n roll song. It leans and nods into other, more niche genres from pop-punk to grunge, but overall, it’s just rock, and that’s what makes it so perfect. “Alex, I Told You So” is not trying to be anything it’s not, and I love that simplicity, but also how that puts the focus on the overall talent and brilliant writing of this band.
