My day went from moving like molasses to flying by, but I won’t get in my head about it. I appreciated it when it was going slowly because I felt like I was getting so much done. It would be easy for me to get frustrated that it’s flying by now, but instead, I’m trying to appreciate it because it means I am just that much closer to heading home. This has absolutely nothing to do with “Rabbit” from Goodnight Kid but is more just a little bit more insight into the mind of Girl at the Rock Shows on a Tuesday.
“Rabbit” is the second single from Goodnight Kid, but you wouldn’t know that just by hearing this song. The power from this track is deafening, but what dazzled me more is this band’s sense of restraint. There were plenty of moments in this track where things could have leaned into the world of chaos and sheer insanity, but Goodnight Kid kept control throughout this song. This made the soft parts scattered throughout these three minutes really resonate with my heart, and the more bombastic moments really struck my head. “Rabbit” is a short yet poignant rollercoaster ride. Goodnight Kid may be the newcomers to the current pop-punk scene, but they definitely don’t feel like it. As mentioned, this is only the second song to come from this four-piece band from the North East of England, but it’s far from the last. Goodnight Kid’s debut EP is due out in Novembe,r and I highly suggest you mark your calendars to check it out because it’s surely going to take the scene by storm.
