Labor Day is now past us, and there’s a chill in the air. I know it sounds dramatic, but summer is over, and I feel like I didn’t get to experience any of it. I’m definitely more of a fall and winter kind of gal, so I’m excited about the prospect of cooler weather and, eventually, snow, but I definitely feel like I failed myself by not getting to a pool or even a lake this summer. Thankfully for me, “Fade Away” from Half Dizzy is keeping the summer spirit alive.
This song really has nothing to do with summer. It’s a reflective song about a relationship, but to me, it screams summer sunshine. It’s an easy-going song with a strong beat and relatable lyrics. The vocals are bright and poppy, but the speed and slight angst that comes through here and there make this song a straight-up pop-punk banger. There’s no denying that this song exudes a sense of warmth, which effectively portrays the story of the lyrics. Overall, I found the song to be incredibly uplifting, happy, and bouncy. “Fade Away” is an anthem for any time of year, any mental state, and anyone. It’s the kind of song that just makes you happy and, on a day like the Manic Wednesday I seem to be having, I couldn’t ask for more.
