What a perfect song title for a Monday morning, right?! It really feels like truer words have never been spoken, which is why, although it’s probably not the best idea for me to take a break from work right now, I want to. This song from Ruins is calling me, it’s speaking to me, and I just can’t resist checking it out right now.

“I Don’t Want To Be Here Anymore” is the kind of song that speaks to not only your ears, but also your soul. Lyrically, this song is nothing short of painfully relatable. It’s a song about reflection, and it seems to cover all of the moods and feelings that come with taking a step back and just reflecting on all things. There’s a subtle quietness that seems to reflect those moments that make the music in our heart stop, followed by moments of angst for when life gets a bit down and dirty with us. All of this is highlighted by moments that feel like optimism, as if portraying those moments when things actually went right and everything was okay. The instrumentation matches these swells of emotion and power perfectly. Long story short, “I Don’t Want to Be Here Anymore” may have a pretty pessimistic song title, but something about this track filled me with an insane amount of hope, passion, and comfort– just what I needed for my manic Monday.
