There’s something almost depressing and defeated about the title of this track. Maybe it’s meant to be that way, maybe it’s not, but something about reading the song title “There will be no encore” fills me with a sense of dread. It’s not quite what I’m looking for this Friday morning. Honestly, it’s a sunshine kind of morning full of pop-punk and hardcore jams. That being said, something about this song from Canadian emo/punk trio Dazey is calling to me right now, so let’s check it out!

The second single off of Dazey’s debut EP ‘This is all i am, i guess,” “There will be no encore” definitely isn’t as uplifting as the playlist I had been jamming, but it’s oh so full of life that I quickly looked past the more somber undertones of this track. Stylistically, this song dabbles between the emo scene of the early 2000s and the Midwest emo vibe that seems to be taking over recently. Regardless of which of these vibes you pick up on, it’s not hard to notice the amount of emotion and heart that this trio has clearly put into every word and every beat. This song is dramatic, it’s gritty, it’s tender, powerful, sensitive, and abrasive. It’s everything you could ask for and more.
