It’s way too early to be thinking about a “Mountain of Beers,” I know. But don’t let that stop you from checking out this amazing and emotionally charged track from Florissant out of Colorado.
The first track off of Florissant’s most recent EP, “Mountain of Beers,” as the band puts it, “is about finally having enough of being caught up in the whirlwind of someone else’s self-destructive tendencies.” That’s a sentiment that we can all relate to all too well, but that’s not what really hooked me about this track. What really got me was the way that Florissant is able to balance this post-hardcore kind of intensity with something much more emotional. I wouldn’t call it emo, but I do think that this song splits the difference between bands like Thrice and PUP oh so very easily. There’s also this almost 90s alt-rock influence that seemed to bring everything together and into one cohesive thought. Whether you’re in the need of some comforting tunes or looking for a blast of energy to help get you moving this morning, I highly suggest you check out “Mountain of Beers” from Florissant.
