Life is all about learning. It’s about finding what makes you happy and doing that. I know it sounds cliché, but if you find something that you love to do, it’s as if you never have to work a day in your life. Sounds dreamy, right? As someone who is living their own dream, I can attest to the fact that it is nice, but there’s always that feeling in the back of my head that wonders what would have happened had I found my passion earlier. That’s what this song is about.
“Kids” by da nang is a give and take. It has glimmers of happiness and optimism juxtaposed with moments of slight darkness and desperation. Long story short, “Kids” mimics life, and it does it so perfectly. That’s what got me hooked by this song, but the more I listened to it, the more I got hooked by da nang’s overall sound. It’s poppy and infectious, but there’s this underlying theme of a more ’90s alt-rock kind of style. Think Durry meets Jeff Rosenstock, but with this almost Third Eye Blind kind of undertone that makes “Kids” nothing short of an infectious track that just one listen to will never be enough. The members of da nang claim to be “a couple of nice, normal guys from Toronto who like making music,” and I just absolutely adore the way you can feel that throughout this quick, three-minute-long song.
