Girl at the Rock Shows

I know that Four Letter Words is not the same as Four Letter Lie, but that’s exactly what I thought as soon as I saw this band name come across my radar. Come on, people, let’s get a bit more creative with band names, please. Although the band name evoked a sense of nostalgia in me (and made me want to revisit Four Letter Lie’s all-too-short discography), the song title intrigued me. “Chaos.” It’s such a simple word, but it can mean so many things. Would the “Chaos” in this song be a metal-drenched insanity? Or more of an infectious bounce kind of “Chaos?” All I know is that I was excited to see what “Chaos” means to Four Letter Words.

Right away, I knew that this was not going to be metal-drenched insanity and would definitely fall more under that infectious bounce kind of chaos category, and, truthfully, I was thankful. The classic pop-punk energy that comes through loud and clear throughout this three-minute song was exactly what I wanted. It felt nostalgic but also fresh. Although I felt that this song could have used a bit more bass and a fuller back end to fill everything out, I found the lyrics to be as easy to follow as the beat was easy to fall into. Honestly, I wish there was more I could say about this song but “Chaos” from Four Letter Words is just one of those songs that is solidly good. It’s not changing the world and nothing super innovative (but I don’t mean that in a bad way) but it’s a pleasant song to listen to and one that will surely keep you moving this Monday morning.
