Four Letter Words had me hooked with their single “Chaos,” so when their name popped up in my inbox again, I was excited. Was their new song “Bittersweet” bring me the same sense of pop-punk-perfection that “Chaos” did?
The short answer is: Yes! “Bittersweet” is yet another pop-punk banger from this need-to-watch band, but it brings a bit of a different edge to the table. This song feels like a party. It definitely reminded me of bands like Forever The Sickest Kids, but with a slightly darkened edge in the vein of bands like Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! I love how Four Letter Words incorporates the sound of a scratching DJ in this song. Although it’s nothing new, I felt like it was just that little extra spice that this song needed to make it stand out in a genre that seems to be taking over the world one song at a time. The only “Bittersweet” thing about this track is that it’s quick. At only two minutes and twenty seconds, this song feels like it’s over in the blink of an eye, but have no fear. “Bittersweet” is the kind of song you’ll want to put on repeat and, every time you listen to it, you will surely find something new to draw you into Four Letter Words’ world a little bit deeper.
