Girl at the Rock Shows

Although my mind is screaming for metal music after last night’s insanely amazing show featuring Cannibal Corpse, Municipal Waste, and more, my heart is begging for more pop-punk jams. I don’t know who to listen to right now, my mind of my heart but I know that something about “Cue The Lights” from Slow Drag is calling to me.

Apparently, my heart has won this one. “Cue The Lights” is a pop-punk anthem, but it comes with a little extra chutzpah behind it. You can hear that little razzle dazzle at the very beginning of this song. It hits with a bit more of a sharp tongue, a bit more grit, but quickly, the band falls into their pop-punk sound. It’s fast-moving and almost has a slightly skate punk feeling vibe to it, but I think it’s just a bit more poppy than can be considered skate punk. Regardless, the energy behind this song is nothing short of electrifying. “Cue The Lights” is a catchy little bop that will help you get through the dreaded Monday afternoon slump. It will also make you daydream about being at a Slow Drag show. That’s due to the energy that this band has put into this track. There’s just something about it where listening from your desk, your car, or wherever you find yourself just will not suffice. I know that Slow Drag is based in Dallas, Texas, which is quite a ways from here in Minneapolis, but I truly hope I get a chance to experience this band live sooner rather than later.
